Growing flowers and other ornamental plants in an sustainable environment is fun and simple. Most of these plants just need a lot of mature compost in the soil (or container for container gardening) and regular water. In most cases, I substitute diluted aerobic compost tea for irrigation, during hot months.
These wave petunias was an experiment to see how productive these flowers can grow, on top of a 6-12" layer of newspaper, and slightly undone compost, with regular waterings with aerobic compost tea recipes. This photo was taken 2 months later after planting. This was 2 transplants!
